Intention over Inertia - Starting out after a lull

I ran today. After god knows how long.

It’s ceremonial. For me, the first run has always been about kicking off something bigger - even if it’s just a new fitness regime.

Once or twice before, it’s been something cooler. Preparing for a trek, say. This time, it’s about the victory of intention over inertia.

Since my break, I’ve travelled and attended to a lot of obligations. It’d been over 40 days. I’d fallen in a rut - playing brainless mobile games; watching test cricket, and worse - following it through Twitter and Reddit live threads.

Like I said, this run was about overcoming inertia. Runs have always been my go-to movement for this.

You can only push so hard at the gym before injuring yourself. I’m barely able to swim. Running, though? Especially with the guided runs on Nike Run Club app. Reminds me what it’s like to push myself and get going.

As a bonus, I got to run by a (dried-up) lake. The greenery helps. The solitude helps. And I intend to do more of this.

Here’s to fresh starts in dusty old shoes.

P.S. For now, I’m leaving out that part where my knee joints reminded me of their existence with every step. That story is for another day.
